Site Development Update – Progress Above the Water
Development work at Tapwood Lake continues to move forward, and we’re pleased to share some of the latest progress from around the site.
Whilst much of the focus is naturally on what lies beneath the surface, a significant amount of work is also underway to improve the facilities and experience available to members above the water.
New Kit Benches Installed
One of the latest additions to the site is a set of purpose-built kit benches, conveniently located adjacent to the pontoon and water entry point.
The benches provide a practical area for divers to prepare equipment, conduct buddy checks and organise kit before entering the water. Positioned close to the pontoon, they help streamline the route to water and will form an important part of the diver experience as the site continues to develop.

Facilities Taking Shape
Work is also progressing on the site’s shop facilities and supporting infrastructure. Cladding installation has now begun, helping to transform the appearance of the buildings while creating a more welcoming environment for visitors.
Alongside the containers, the outdoor shower facilities are now in place, providing divers with a convenient way to rinse equipment and freshen up after a day in the water.
These facilities form part of our longer-term vision to create a comfortable, well-equipped venue for members and visiting clubs.
Pontoon Installation Progress
Many visitors will already have noticed progress on the new pontoon installation. The image below shows an early stage of the anchoring works, which form the foundation of what will become a key access point for divers entering and exiting the lake.
The pontoon will provide primary access to the lake, as well as support future developments beneath the surface.

Looking Ahead
These developments represent just a small part of the work currently underway at Tapwood Lake. Over the coming months we will continue to invest in both diver facilities and underwater attractions, helping to create an inland diving venue that supports training, exploration and recreational diving alike.
We’ll continue to share regular updates through our News & Updates page as new developments take shape.
Thank you to everyone supporting Surrey Hills Diving during this exciting stage of the site’s development.
